A feeling
for celebration is inborn in the people
of the Nord and it is not simply by chance
that traditions that go back several centuries
are still celebrated with as much fervent
excitement as ever. First among all these
is the famous Lille Braderie or street
market, which has its roots in the city’s
convivial and commercial soul. But the
people of Wattrelos, Comines, Armentières
and Tourcoing have no reason to be jealous
of their neighbours in Lille when it comes
to their own traditional celebrations
such as the Berlouffes, the Louches, the
Nieulles and the Franche Foire. |
