With its street markets and country fairs, its bandstands and open-air dancing, weekends in the Avesnois are traditionally a time for celebration and festivities. In the past, people celebrated their trade, their work well done and their time off well-deserved. Today, these traditions are being revived. In Le Quesnoy, the Regional Nature Park holds celebrations around milk and bread, and June sees a festival honouring the famous bandstands. In the Avesnois, love of the land takes on quite naturally an air of festiviity.
